Vets Races coming up, Kirkstall Abbey 30th May & Mulgrave Castle 10k 4th June.

YVAA Grand Prix Race 2 :-

The second race of the 2017 Vets’ Grand Prix is coming up on Tuesday (30th) at 7:30pm. This one starts from Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds. It’s a varied course with a fast start along the paths around Kirkstall Abbey, followed by a bit of road and then some great running around the woods in Bramley before a return along the road to the abbey. At just short of 10k, it’s a good chance to stretch your legs between the Easingwold and Knavesmire summer league races and score some points for the club in the overall competition. It’s £5 to enter on the day, but you can save yourself some time by pre-registering here before next Monday (or just use your number from round 1 if you raced at Honley).

More info on the race can also be found at the above location.

YVAA Grand Prix Race 3 :-

Closely following on from that is race 3 of the Grand Prix at Mulgrave Castle near Whitby. This one is a rare opportunity to visit the Mulgrave Castle grounds (usually closed to the public) to run a great off-road 10k with a few hills thrown in. The race is on Sunday 4th June at 11:10am, with registration at the Lythe Sports Pavilion just outside Whitby. There’s showers and changing rooms at the sports pavilion and, if last year is anything to go by, loads of cake for post-race snacks. More info and pre-registration at the same location above.

There is also a separate 10k race running alongside the Vets’ race if any under-35s want to race.
